Industry veteran Pratima Poplai has joined Gannett Fleming as the sales and growth leader for the MidAtlantic U.S., responsible for driving full-service expansion and diversification in the transportation, water resources, buildings, and power and energy markets for public and private sector clients.

Poplai brings over 25 years of experience in strategic leadership and business development in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. Most recently, she served as the senior vice president of growth strategy and head of global business development for connected communities at Parsons Corporation, where she also oversaw the firm’s U.S. environmental and energy business.

“Thanks to funding by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the U.S. is in an era of transformation wherein we can advance critical infrastructure projects that help clients reach their sustainability, resiliency, and net zero goals, and Pratima is the right leader to help our clients reach that next summit,” explained Gannett Fleming’s Chief Growth Officer Joseph Deery, PE. “We’ve partnered with some of our clients in the MidAtlantic for generations, and bringing in a visionary leader like Pratima will help us expand the resources available to them and partner together to modernize the region’s infrastructure.”

Poplai has worked with private, state, federal, and local clients and partnered across large corporations and disadvantaged-, women-, and minority-owned businesses, unifying complex teams around the ultimate goal of creating more equitable communities and providing people with an improved quality of life. Her proven track record includes overseeing a nearly billion-dollar AEC business operation, being an agile, trusted adviser in the face of change, driving business growth, and building diverse, successful teams.

“Everyone who works on critical infrastructure in the MidAtlantic knows Gannett Fleming, and I’ve always been impressed by the rich history and collaborative, entrepreneurial, and committed culture,” said Poplai. “I spent the early years of my life in a developing country, so I know personally what it is to be without potable water, reliable power and energy, and safe infrastructure. It’s why I’m proud to be with a company that has been pioneering solutions for infrastructure and environmental challenges for over a century.”

Poplai received her Bachelor of Science in engineering science and Master of Science in environmental engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and will soon graduate from the General Management Executive Education Program at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She is an active member of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) and WTS.
