Gannett Fleming Wins WTS Central PA Employer of the Year Award
WTS Central Pennsylvania honored Gannett Fleming with its Employer of the Year Award during its virtual gala on March 24. This marks the second time that Gannett Fleming has received the Employer of the Year Award, with the WTS South Florida chapter bestowing the honor upon the firm in 2018. The award recognizes an employer that supports WTS and is committed to recruiting, retaining, and advancing women.
“Being named Employer of the Year is truly an honor for Gannett Fleming,” said Mary Ann Derr, PE, principal project manager and WTS Central PA past president, in a video celebrating the win. “Both WTS and Gannett Fleming gave me the foundation to continue the trajectory of my career.”
A CULTURE OF CHAMPIONING WOMEN
Connected Women at Gannett Fleming™, the firm’s award-winning employee resource group, has been instrumental in creating a culture that empowers, supports, and mentors women to achieve career and personal success at Gannett Fleming. Since 2017, the number of females at the firm increased by 33%, and its voluntary turnover rate reduced by 26% from 2014. Additionally, Gannett Fleming has been active in encouraging females to enter the transportation field through internship programs and by offering two annual engineering scholarships targeting students from underrepresented groups.
SUPPORTING WOMEN’S GROWTH IN WTS
Gannett Fleming has been a proud WTS supporter since 2000, and its employees are active in local chapters in Canada and across the U.S. The firm recognizes that today’s mobility solutions must deliver safe, efficient, and reliable functionality in the future’s transportation ecosystem, and women hold a key role in helping to achieve these goals.
“This award from WTS means Gannett Fleming is recognized as a change agent for supporting and advancing women in transportation and shaping the future of the industry,” said Brehan McBride, PE, senior project manager and WTS Central PA advisory board member.
