The 25,000-square-foot facility was thoughtfully designed to reflect Milton’s rural, agricultural, and equestrian heritage. It was one of eight new branches funded through Phase I of Fulton County’s 2008 Library Bond Program. Since its opening, strong community involvement, including the transformation of the historic Dinsmore barn into a Friends of the Milton Library bookstore, has helped the library flourish as a hub of civic pride and local character.

Over the past decade, the Milton Library has welcomed thousands of visitors each month and hosted a wide range of programs, events, and community meetings. In 2025 alone, patrons have already checked out over 85,000 items, placing Milton among the highest-circulating branches in the county.

Join us as we celebrate 10 years of community, connection, and lifelong learning on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Enjoy birthday-themed programs, crafts, giveaways, and more throughout the day.

CRAFTer Dark – June: Acrylic Flowers https://www.fulcolibrary.org/blogs/post/crafter-dark-june-acrylic-flowers/ Tue, 08 Jul 2025 20:06:30 +0000 https://www.fulcolibrary.org/?p=9551904 Milton Library hosts CRAFTer Dark, a monthly program geared toward adults. The goal is to provide programs that make art/crafts accessible to all skill levels in such a way that each participant produces a stunning piece, even with no prior experience.

June's program was all about colors (think SRP "Color Our World") and using paintbrush alternatives. We used plastic baggies and q-tips to apply acrylic paint to canvas to create colorful flowers. The main part of the flower (petals) was created with a gallon-sized plastic bag: tie a knot in one corner of the bag, turn the bag inside out, inflate, and tie closed with another knot. The part where the initial knot was placed and is now on the inside becomes the flower center. Apply the paint color of your choosing to the baggie area surrounding this center, and then press onto the canvas. Participants chose the colors they wanted to use.

Here is the sample that was provided to them:

And here are the finished works of art:

It's always so much fun to see how differently they all turn out!

Milton Library Celebrates Earth Week with Neighborhood Forest https://www.fulcolibrary.org/blogs/post/milton-library-celebrates-earth-week-with-neighborhood-forest/ Thu, 27 Apr 2023 19:38:37 +0000 https://www.fulcolibrary.org/?p=9531596 The Milton Library has partnered with Neighborhood Forest https://www.neighborhoodforest.org/ to distribute trees to children to help celebrate Earth Week 2023.

Last year the library gave away 75+ trees to local children to plant,- in 2023 we are giving away nearly 200 Southern Live Oak trees to families that preregistered for a tree.

With the current closure of the Milton Library for the final restoration projects from our Christmas Day flooding, we are working on a plan to get the trees into your hands.  Look for emails from the Milton Library staff for options to pick up your tree sapling.
