Penn State University Athletic Administration Building Design

A NEW HUB FOR ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATION, STRATEGY, AND OPERATIONS ENHANCES EXCELLENCE

Our Client’s Challenge

For Penn State student-athletes involved in intercollegiate athletics, a game-day win is a testament to hard work and dedication. It is a culmination of the university’s spirit, unity, and relentless pursuit of excellence, defining features of the Nittany Lions.

At Penn State’s University Park Campus, a robust athletic administration staff supports student-athletes of 29 NCAA Division I teams by centralizing operations and enhancing efficiency. When the Centre County Visitor Center, a long-term campus tenant, relocated to downtown State College, the Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics group identified the building as a desirable location that would offer closer proximity to Penn State’s athletic facilities such as the iconic Beaver Stadium and provide a new hub for the administrative, strategic, and operational activities related to athletics.

Our Solution

The integrated architecture and design team at Gannett Fleming supported the development of a creative new space for the university’s athletic administration team, culminating in an 8,500-square-foot state-of-the-art building to foster staff collaboration, event coordination, athlete and staff recruitment, and alumni and donor engagement, ensuring continued support for athletic programs. The space includes a common area, lounge, media center, trophy room, and an entertainment terrace.

Key Features

  • A vibrant space features ample daylighting and incorporates the Penn State brand while meeting the unique needs of the athletic administration team.
  • Adaptable spaces and meeting rooms accommodate various group sizes and functions, promoting efficiency and collaboration.
  • Cutting-edge technology, including a social media influencer studio and green screen area, supports the department’s promotional needs.
