Military Veterans at Gannett Fleming
The mission of the Military Veterans at Gannett Fleming is to create a culture that recognizes the skills, contributions, and value that military veterans bring; fosters veteran recruiting and career growth; and supports veterans and their families. Ultimately, this group will be a forum for veterans to interact and engage while providing Gannett Fleming with a competitive advantage in veteran recruitment, retention, and stakeholder relationships.
What We're Doing
U.S. FLAG RAISING CEREMONY
Military Veterans at Gannett Fleming partnered with the U.S. Air Force 193rd Special Operations Wing Honor Guard, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to conduct an official U.S. flag raising ceremony on the campus of Gannett Fleming’s headquarters. Employees and neighboring businesses were invited out to the plaza to pay respect as U.S. Air Force Airmen raised the nation’s flag in honor of National Veterans Day. This event was completed in conjunction with the firms first-ever Wear Camo Day.
OPERATION WARD 57 WOUNDED VETERAN & MILITARY FAMILIES INITIATIVE
Gannett Fleming’s Shared Services and Military Veterans at Gannett Fleming partner with Operation Ward 57 to adopt veterans and their families. Operation Ward 57 supports wounded, injured, and ill service members, veterans, their caregivers, and those that aid in their recovery by providing assistance and outreach in their recovery, comfort and morale, and through advocacy, education, and promotion of their circumstances.
WEAR CAMO DAY
Each year, on Nov. 11, the U.S. celebrates and honors our veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good, with the observance of National Veterans Day. Our Canadian brothers and sisters celebrate National Remembrance Day for the same reason. With more than 100 military veterans on staff and countless military families affiliated with Gannett Fleming, Military Veterans at Gannett Fleming encourages all employees to join in supporting these members by wearing camo on the day the U.S. & Canada recognize these federal holidays.
STOCKINGS FOR SOLDIERS
In partnership with the Keystone Military Families, Military Veterans at Gannett Fleming collects items needed for their annual Stockings for Soldiers drive. Keystone Military Families, a nonprofit organization, sends more than 10,000 care packages to deployed service members who are far from home over the holidays. The packages go to all branches of the military and to locations in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, Korea, ships at sea, and any other troops who request support from home.
